Dear Resident
Two men arrested on suspicion of drugs offences during a day of action in the Upper Valley area have been jailed for a total of 88 months.
Masum Miah and Brent Fisher were arrested by officers on 18 September last year during an operation by Sergeant Thompson to target street crime and shoplifting.
Miah, 36, was seen acting suspiciously by officers and was found in a local shop, where he was detained and subjected to a stop-search by PCs Mayhew and Pell.
He was found to be in possession of several wraps containing white powder and was arrested.
A search of his home address in Nutfield Street, Todmorden, found substances which were later confirmed to be crack cocaine and heroin. A quantity of cash was also seized along with a metal baseball bat.
The subsequent investigation by the NPT also led to Fisher, 64, of no fixed address, being charged with possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
Both men appeared before Bradford Crown Court on Tuesday (24 March), where they pleaded guilty to possession offences and were jailed for 52 and 36 months respectively.
A video showing the Stop Search and Arrest of Miah is available on the Calderdale Valleys Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/reel/1604819107234210
