Road Safety Enforcement Operation - Results

Dear Resident,

On Tuesday 18th March, officers from Wakefield Central East NPT joined colleagues from the Roads Policing Unit in a road safety enforcement operation targeting the “fatal 5” road traffic offences:

•    Speeding
•    Mobile Phones
•    Seatbelts
•    Drink / Drug driving
•    Dangerous and careless driving

The operation was centred around the areas of College Grove, Eastmoor and Portobello, with a number of vehicles being stopped and checked.

One arrest was made for immigration offences and two vehicles were seized for no insurance with the drivers being summonsed to court for the offences. In addition, a number of Traffic Offence Reports were issued for driving without a seatbelt, no insurance, no MOT, using a mobile phone whilst driving, defective lights and illegal number plates.

Officers also submitted several intelligence reports which will be developed by specialist officers.
