Monday 17th March 2025 is National Two-Step Verification Day and the Cyber & Economic Crime Teams will be at Leeds Trinity Shopping Centre promoting ways to prevent fraud and cyber crime, including two-step verification (2SV). Two-step verification is a simple way to give your accounts an extra level of protection, by asking for extra authentication when you log in. The extra step could be a One Time Passcode (OTP) that is generated by an authenticator app, or sent to you in a text message. Some companies might also use codes or prompts generated by their own app on your phone. Two-step verification is available on most types of accounts, and enhances security by making it harder for hackers to access your account - even if they know your password. 2SV is strongly encouraged for high value accounts like your email and online banking. | ||||
