Residents of Crossgates, Whinmoor, Swarcliffe, in recent weeks we have seen an increase in Burglary offences and theft from garages and in particular, sheds. Officers conducting follow up enquiries have noted a significant number of sheds with poor standard security and/or insecure locks. Officers will be implementing targeted overtime patrols to identify and disrupt offenders but did you know you can access a host of crime prevention information, advice and home security checklists online at Easy Street Burglary Campaign | West Yorkshire Police The East Leeds Crime prevention officer will be utilised to review the level of security particularly in and around the Pendas and Manston park area where the majority of these offences have taken place in the early hours of the morning. In addition, will also be hosting a crime prevention event outside the Barnbow Park (next to Manston Park) on Friday 14th March from 5pm – 6pm and a range of items will be handed out on a first come, first served basis. We would ask residents who live in the area to review their security locks, outside lighting and access to the gardens and where able, bolster sheds and garages with the ambition of reducing the chance of being the victim of these offences.
