A Kirklees cannabis grower has been jailed within 24 hours of being arrested after police found hundreds of plants at his property. Admand Dauti (36) of Burn Road, Birchencliffe was jailed for eight months at Leeds Magistrates Court on Saturday February 1st after being arrested the day before in a police raid.
Officers from the Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at the detached property on Burn Road in Lindley ward on Friday morning (January 31st).
Inside they found a cannabis factory spread over several rooms of the property, and the household electrics bypassed.
Dauti was arrested at the scene and charged later that day with a production of a class B drugs offence.
He appeared before magistrates the next day and was jailed after pleading guilty.
A total of 294 plants were recovered from the property by officers following a search.
Sergeant Caroline Loran of the Huddersfield Neighbourhood Policing team, said: “We remain committed to tackling the production of cannabis in our communities, and welcome the swift sentencing of this man.
“Within less than 24 hours of us executing a warrant and arresting him, Dauti has found himself with a prison sentence and lost cannabis which would have been worth a significant amount.
“All of the drugs seized from the property are now being destroyed and will not be generating income which could find its way into financing organised crime.”
She added: “I want to thank residents who continue to report criminality in their communities and promise that we continue to assess all information and intelligence.
“Drugs production and offending is an absolute blight on communities and we continue to ask anyone who has information about such activity to contact the NPT or the independent Crimestoppers charity.
"Information can be given to the Huddersfield NPT via 101 or https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/livechat or anonymously to the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111 ."
