Good afternoon,

We would like to keep you updated in regards to Operation Orion, which was launched in July of this year, is a partnership approach targeting those who blight the town through their criminal activities and anti-social behaviour.

Since its launch, officers from Orion have been working closely with the town’s Neighbourhood Policing Team and partners – gathering intelligence on offenders and associated premises which are believed to be contributing to crime and anti-social behaviour in the town centre.

A number of premises in Halifax have been issued with Closure Orders as an ongoing police-led operation against crime and anti-social behaviour in the town centre begins to make an impact. The premises subject to a the closure orders are:

Newsline Immy G’s, George Square, Halifax

1-3 Brussels Court, Halifax

6, 8, 10,12,14 New Road, Halifax

3, 5, 7, 9, 52 & 54 Union Street South, Halifax

These orders require the premises to close immediately for a period of 3 months and anyone who is not a resident can be arrested if they are found on site.

Orion has made a significant impact since its inception – with 118 arrests and 82 charges for offences related to drugs, theft, fraud and driving offences. The team has also executed 20 warrants relating to Class A,B and C drugs and stolen property.
