Dear Resident You are receiving this because you live in the vicinity of Salendine Nook in Huddersfield, in the last couple of weeks we have been made aware by Trading Standards of a number of males pressurising mainly elderly residents to get their driveways steam cleaned. The business in this report goes by the name of 'Trust Wise' Steam Cleaning and uses a black van for transport. One lady has declined the offer of work but the males have started the work anyway and pressured the resident to complete. In another similar incident in the Birkenshaw area of Bradford the males have made veiled threats to the elderley resident into paying £400 for a steam cleaned drive even though they had said the quote was too much but they continued anyway. They eventually left when the resident threatened to call the Police What should i do Apply caution if a trader turns up unannounced offering a service. If they are pushy or persistent, stop, ‘Take 5’ and think about the offer. It is always recommended to obtain a few quotes from traders to compare prices. Do some research on the business wherever possible and obtain a written quote. Ask about guarantee’s, time frames and what is included in the price.
Be cautious with any trader who asks for payment in full upfront or does not offer any written paperwork. If in doubt do not engage. Report to Trading Standards or to the Police. Thanks | ||||
