Debit card stolen from insecure vehicle in Castleford and used at nearby petrol station.

Good morning

A debit card was stolen from a vehicle on Bryan Close, Castleford in the early hours of Thursday 21 November and used at a nearby petrol station. It is thought that the vehicle had been left insecure.

Another 2 vehicles were also targeted on the same morning – a vehicle on Hugh Street, Castleford where power tools and food items were stolen and a vehicle on Calder Street, Castleford where a pair of gloves were stolen. Both vehicles had been left insecure.

The suspect is described as a slim white male, over 5ft 5, wearing grey/black electrician trousers, black hooded top and lower face covered. He was seen to try a number of car doors along Calder Street, Castleford.

Please remember to remove all your valuables, however small, from view or place them in the boot when leaving your vehicles. Always double check that you have locked your vehicle by trying the door handle.

Vehicles with unfolded electric wing mirrors could indicate that it has been left unlocked. Car thieves are known to look out for vehicles with wing mirrors sticking out.

Offences can take place anywhere, in a car park, at the side of the road or on your driveway.

As always, if you see anyone acting in a suspicious manner or witness a crime taking place, please contact West Yorkshire Police on 101 or 999 (in an emergency). Alternatively a crime can be reported via the West Yorkshire Police website.
