Bike Marking - Positive outcome

We often advertise Bike Marking events, but you may still not be sure what the benefit is. We would therefore like to share a recent positive outcome that hightlights why BikeRegister is effective as a deterrent.

Overnight on the 1st October, a Burglary occurred in Headingley, where a garage was broken into and two bikes stolen from within. The bikes were reported to the Police but they were also registered on Bike Register, having been marked by University staff some months previous.

It seems that they became unsellable and dumped in a garden nearby. A fellow resident saw the bikes, scanned the QR codes and discovered they had been reported stolen through the free ‘Bike Checker’. The bikes are now back with their owner.

We regularly offer to register bikes for free on our Facebook page. If you own a bike that is not yet registered, please keep an eye on our Facebook page for upcoming events.
